TRILOGY
LOST LONDON TRILOGY RELEASED (pHd/AWAL 19th April) This trilogy was three years in the making. Now finally released through AWAL and available digitally on a host of sights, these three ep's showcase Campbell's creative output between albums "Joy", "After The Garden" and Daddy's Table".
Safehouse passed on releasing them and they fell by the wayside. Campbell sent the original masters to the label each in its own separate sealed kitchen baggie, with items such as a crucifix and dice with Tornado Blues; a hash pipe and weed with Midnight Medicine; and vegas matches and call girl cards with Sincerely, L. Cohen. This together with a faked letter from the London Metropolitan Constabulary, formed the contents of a package sent to the Portabello office.
Their reaction? A 'concerned' phone call enquiring if their artist was ok. ‘Saviour’s Song’ is the new release by Glasgow based Phil Campbell. The album is one of many, with almost ten Phil Campbell releases listed in the ‘Music History’ section of his website including a collection of Leonhard Cohen covers.
The album opens with a brief Tom Waits-esque vocal passage, which leads in to the gospel infused country rock of ‘W.M.B.L’. An anagram of ‘We Must Be Lovers’, ‘W.M.B.L’ is a beautiful track, laden with vocal takes and arranged with such care. Campbell’s voice shines through, and gives an immediate understanding and explanation to Campbell’s previous success, which includes two appearances on ‘Later with Jools Holland’, support slots with David Gray and Turin Brakes, and two deals with EMI..... (MORE) SAVIOUR'S SONG RELEASED (pHd/AWAL 5th April) SUMMER SEASON HAS ARRIVED !!

Phil kicked off the summer with a gig in Bathgate in May, where The Safe Words (Robyn Keen & Amie Hume) shared the stage with three additional players; Marc Carruthers (bass), Paul Malcolm (guitar) and Ian Murray (percussion). Ian has jammed with Phil and the girls many times, but this show saw a well rehearsed band come together live for the first of a season of gigs which takes in Glasgow and reaches all the way to Belfast in August. Phil and the band have a residency at Jinty McGuinty's in Glasgow which sees two shows during the West End Festival.

Robyn and Amie completed their EP, "To You I'll Sing this Song", just in time for the Arran Folk Festival at the beginning of June. Sessions began in January while "Saviour's Song" was being finalised. Produced by Phil, it carries the "PHD" logo and contains 6 of the girls' best original songs. On June 10th Robyn, Amie, Phil and Ian Murray took to the stage in the Brodick Hall on Arran to rapturous applause from an audience of family and friends of the Island's favourite girl band. Phil and the band return to Arran on July 3rd.
